Introducing Monaiq: Licensing & Monetization for Builders

The Problem

If you've ever tried to monetize a piece of software, you know the drill. You have three options, and none of them are great.

Option one: payment processors that don't do licensing. Tools like Lemon Squeezy and Polar make it easy to accept payments. They'll handle your checkout page, process credit cards, and send receipts. But the moment someone asks "does this customer have access to the Pro tier?" — you're on your own. Payment confirmation and license enforcement are different problems, and these platforms solve exactly one of them.

Option two: licensing APIs that don't do commerce. Keygen gives you a clean API for managing license keys, validations, and machine activations. It's well-built software. But it doesn't sell anything. You still need a separate payment processor, a separate billing system, and custom glue code to connect purchase events to license creation. That's a lot of plumbing for something that should be straightforward.

Option three: build it yourself. This is the option most experienced developers eventually consider — and the one that costs the most in ways you don't expect. We'll have more to say about this in a future post, but the short version is: you end up maintaining a SaaS product just to support your actual SaaS product.

None of these options give you the complete picture. That's the gap Monaiq fills.

What Monaiq Does Differently
